Modern design is an interior design style characterized by a monochromatic color palette, clean lines, minimalism, natural materials and natural light. You’ll often hear the word ‘modern’ and ‘contemporary’ being used interchangeably, but do you know that modern design has its own distinct style?
The hallmark of defining a modern home boils down to incorporating clutter-free and simple design elements, with the use of neutral materials and earthy colors applied onto furnishings and décor to omit redundant detailing. In a modern home, more emphasis is placed on monochromatic color play combination, which in this context is integrating different hues of brown furnishings as the key element in different areas of the home.

Simplicity and Functionality stands at the forefront in a modern themed home.
The main theme for this 5 room BTO flat this time around is centered around modernism and inspired by modern apartment designs in Taiwan. However, if you can tell, our interior designer also added slight hints of Scandinavian design elements into it to make it into one of the many unique and creative designs which 96 Interior is known for.
There are 3 parts to this entire interior design project. Firstly, the natural light from the sun, secondly the choice of a darker wooden finish and last but not least the large glass panels used to separate the living room from the study. The dark tones coming from the wooden finishes creates a form of coziness that perfectly balances the enhanced sense of spaciousness created by the large glass panels separating the study room.
The amount of sunlight allowed to come through the huge window completes the entire atmosphere which our designer was trying to achieve with this house. Needless to say, our client was very happy and also surprised by how well it turned out.
